BlackBerry gets Facebook Messenger for first time
Facebook followed up its Messenger iOS 5 update with a for BlackBerry. It shares the same extra-streamlined, chat-focused interface of its Android and iPhone peers with real-time messages, even in the background, and handles group chats with optional locations. The app can pull both the existing Facebook contact list as well as those from the regular contact list that have Facebook accounts.
The new port should keep up with the latest updates and show live typing updates, check which users are on mobile versus the desktop, and support the full suite of languages.
RIM isn't specific on requirements, but the app is known by Electronista to work on BlackBerry 7 devices and is optimized for full-touch models like the Torch 9860. It hasn't yet shown in BlackBerry App World and is only available through the direct link.
